![]() ![]() My only complaint is that you have to pull the trigger to take it down, but that is just a personal preference.įor someone considering this gun, what would you tell them? The Springfield XDS is a breeze to take down and clean. It gets a lot dirtier than I would like to admit, but it was flawless.Īny problems with any type of ammunition? None that I have found so far.ĭoes this gun have any specific ammunition requirements? If so, please explain: Not that I have come across yet. I have yet to have any kind of failure to feed or fire. I have owned the Springfield XDS for a couple years, putting somewhere between 1500-2000 rounds through it. It has a good balance and fit to my hand so it is very pleasant to shoot. I find is easy to shoot and for the size, The recoil isn’t as bad as I would have expected. It has a good amount behind each shot, but it is nothing to be afraid of. The first few times out, I couldn’t make it through too many magazines because my trigger finger would be worn out, but now that I’m used to it, it is very manageable. Once you learn the trigger and where it breaks, it is very nice to shoot. It does have a fairly long pull, but I like that for safety reasons. The trigger is smooth and not at all gritty. I am still working on being able to rack it one handed though. Even if I hold the gun still and just rack the slide, it is done easily. I always use the hold the slide still and push the gun forward method and it is not hard to manage at all. It is easy to see in bright daylight and even low light conditions. This is my first gun with a fiber optic front sight and I love it. I am able to use the mag release without giving up my grip. How does it fit your hand, how do you like the sights, how difficult is it to rack the slide, how would you describe the trigger pull, and how would you describe the recoil? I could shoot this gun well from the first shot, and with practice, it is a pleasure to shoot. Compared to a larger, full size polymer framed 9mm, it does have more recoil, but nothing unmanageable. Shooting the Springfield XDS 9 is amazing. Also, as a left handed shooter, it is more difficult to find a handgun with an ambidextrous safety. If I am awoken in the middle of the night to an intruder, I wanted to know I couldn’t panic and forget to disable the safety. With training, the act of disabling the safety would come naturally, but I liked the idea of a point and shoot gun. I was looking for a smaller gun that I would be able to conceal easily but shoot well and I also didn’t want a manual external safety. What features does this gun have that appealed to you?
